An elegant wedding at Toronto’s Globe and Mail Centre

High above Toronto’s vibrant downtown, The Globe and Mail Centre is a dream venue for couples looking for a modern yet timeless space for their wedding day. With its sweeping views of the city skyline and Lake Ontario, this venue served as the perfect backdrop for a truly elegant event.

The venue’s sleek, contemporary design was enhanced with warm candlelight to create an inviting, romantic atmosphere. A neutral colour palette with accents of black, ivory and gold brought an air of understated luxury to the space. Delicate individual rose stems were elegantly arranged along the length of the tabletops, east nestled in slender glass vases. The simplicity of the design allows the roses natural beauty to shine.

Guests were treated to an unforgettable experience as they enjoyed delicious flavours from Food Dudes and danced with Sole Power all night long. The sunset over the city skyline created breathtaking views. As the sun dipped down, the soft glow of the candles came alive.

From the stunning decor to the incredible views, this wedding was a meticulously pulled off. Every element came together to create a celebration that was not only beautiful but also deeply personal and memorable.

For couples dreaming of a city-chic wedding with unparalleled views and a professional team to guide them every step of the way, this is the ultimate inspiration.

A Dream Wedding in Tuscany at Villa Medicea di Lilliano

Tucked into the hills of Tuscany, Villa Medicea di Lilliano is the epitome of romance and elegance—a dream destination for couples looking to create a wedding filled with beauty, history and charm. Emilia and Paolo couldn’t have chosen a more magical place for their wedding.

Imagine exchanging vows surrounded by centuries-old olive groves, lush vineyards, and the breathtaking backdrop of the Tuscany. Villa Medicea, with its beautiful architecture and manicured gardens, is the perfect setting for an unforgettable celebration.

Guests, whom travelled from near and far, were able to immerse themselves in the rich cultural history of the region; With local wine and traditional fare, no Tuscan-inspired detail was spared.

When designing this wedding we blended Italian charm with modern elements. We used local greenery, soft coloured florals and vintage European tableware paired with a modern dining chair and string lights for a contemporary ambiance.

The wedding cake was a traditional Mille-feuille which involves layers of puff pastry and vanilla custard and mascarpone cream with hints of strawberry and chocolate chips, per the bride’s request! It was prepared before guests by a pastry chef, with the help of the bride and groom of course. This traditional live cake event took place amidst a backdrop of fireworks.

Emilia and Paolo’s wedding was the most beautiful experience steeped in the charm and beauty of Tuscany. Every detail ensured we captured the rustic elegance of the Italian countryside. We are so grateful they chose us to help them celebrate their most magical wedding with family and friends.

As we approach the most wonderful time of the year, one of the best ways to celebrate the holidays is by setting a memorable table. Whether you're hosting a cozy family dinner or a larger event, your tablescape can make the meal feel even more special. For 2024, we're seeing an exciting blend of nostalgic traditions and fresh, glamorous decor that add new layers of elegance and fun to the holidays. Here are the top holiday tablescape trends that will elevate your gatherings this season.

Bold Jewel Tones

While traditional red, green, and gold never go out of style, this year we are seeing colour palettes inspired by rich jewel tones — think emerald green, sapphire blue and amethyst purple. These bold hues add drama and sophistication, and offer a modern twist on classic holiday colours. Consider using:

  • Velvet tablecloths or placemats in rich jewel tones.

  • Glassware in deep colors, like emerald green or ruby red.

  • Layering jewel-toned dinnerware with metallic accents, such as gold-rimmed plates or cutlery.

  • Floral arrangements in shades of plum, burgundy and navy, accented by gold leaves or stems.

Maximalist Decor

In contrast to the minimalist trend that’s been so popular in recent years, 2024 holiday tablescapes embrace maximalism—more is more when it comes to textures, colours and layers. Don’t be afraid to overdecorate! This season is all about creating a layered experience that reflects the joy of the holidays.

  • Layered table linens with contrasting textures, like linen tablecloths topped with lace runners or velvet placemats.

  • Mix-and-match china and glassware to create a whimsical, eclectic feel.

  • Bold centerpieces with oversized candles, fresh greenery, and ornamental accents, such as vintage-inspired baubles, pinecones, and oversized flowers.

  • Multiple layers of candles, from tall candelabras to small votives, giving off a warm, inviting glow.

  • Fun takeaways for your guests, such as Fancy Pufs Organic Cotton Candy!

Vintage Revival

Nostalgia is powerful and fun, and many are turning to vintage-inspired tablescapes to bring the charm of holidays past. Whether it's the 1950s or the Victorian era, vintage elements add warmth, history and fun to the table!

  • Antique tableware like mismatched plates or heirloom china for a personal, nostalgic touch.

  • Crystal glassware for a timeless, luxurious feel.

  • Vintage ornaments repurposed as table decor.

  • Classic linens like embroidered napkins, or hand-crocheted table runners.

  • Tarnished brass accents which bring in a sense of nostalgia.

2024 holiday tablescapes are about blending creativity with tradition, celebrating sustainability while embracing the bold colours, textures, and whimsy of the holidays. Whether you're drawn to the elegance of jewel tones, the charm of vintage accents, or the playfulness of interactive elements, this year’s trends offer something for every style and occasion. Get creative incorporating some of these trending elements, and let your holiday table be a reflection of the joy and warmth of the season.

Academy in the City with Jillian Harris and The Atelier

The conference stage at Academy in the City

Working with Team Jilly and The Atelier was an incredible experience as we brought together hundreds of women for Academy in the City at The Royal York Hotel in Toronto. The two-day event began with a gala on the Wednesday night and a conference the following day.

The Gala

Hosted in the iconic Ballroom at The Royal York Hotel in Toronto, The Gala was a night to remember. VIP guests were invited to arrive early for a meet and greet with Jillian, then Canadian jewelry designer Melanie Auld let each guest select a piece of her jewelry to take home.

Food was provided by The Royal York and the bubble bar was sponsored by Trius, a local winery in Niagara-on-the-Lake. Purdy’s Chocolatiers provided a chocolate bar, there were cookies from The Cookie Bag. and live artists drawing fashion portraits. If you weren’t dancing your heart out, there was still plenty more to enjoy!

The Pop-up

Guests could shop from Jilly's favourite female-founded brands at The Pop-up

We pulled an all-nighter and transformed the Ballroom into a pop-up shop for Thursday, where guests could shop from some of Team Jilly’s favourite female-founded, Canadian brands. The towering trees adorned with flowers (by Rachel A. Clingen) were such a beautiful way to accent the rooms already ornate high ceilings. We couldn’t have found a more suitable location! There was also had a beauty bar and hydration station where guests could get make-up touch ups and electrolyte and collagen drinks.

The Conference

The conference was held in the Concert Hall and featured so many incredible speakers. The Royal York provided the food and did an incredible job.

We designed the conference space to emulate everything that Jilly loves. Airy, earthy colours, lots of incredible florals (by Rachel A. Clingen of course!) and feminine accents. Jilly is the queen of giveaways, so there were tons of gifts for guests including water bottles and notebooks.

VIP guests had access to a VIP Lounge where they had access to complimentary coffee from Pilot Coffee Roasters, and products and services from Elate Beauty and PURA Botanicals.

The whole event was absolutely perfect and the team that put it together could not have worked harder and deserves all of the praise for how well it turned out. We look forward to working tougher on another Team Jilly event soon!

One Peachy First Birthday!

A sweet little girl turned one and no detail was missed when planning her peach-themed first birthday party. Complete with a fresh peach wall, peach treats and peach-coloured everything, little Ava’s first birthday was one to remember!

A sweet little girl turned one and no detail was missed while planning her peach-themed birthday party. Complete with a fresh peach market, the sweet table was filled with pastries by Truffle Cake & Pastry. With peachy treats and peach-coloured everything, little Ava’s first birthday was one to remember!

We had so much fun while planning this party, and one of our biggest concerns was having a place for kids to play. We rented luxury soft play toys, a ball pit and a bouncy castle so our littlest guests would be entertained. It was nice to find all white rentals so our theme wasn't compromised and the space still looked incredibly chic while still being functional and fun.

The fresh peach market wall and canvas bags were an ode to peach season in Ontario. There is nothing like taking home some fresh local peaches, and a peach-themed party with fresh peaches for our guests was just too perfect.

The sweet table was full of peach-flavoured treats and signature drinks featuring hints of peach! Even the plates and cups were on theme. Thank you to all of the incredible vendors who helped bring this event to life, it was such a fun party to plan!

Alessandra and Stephen’s dreamy Lake Como inspired wedding

Stephen and Alessandra, high school sweethearts who met over 10 years ago, had recently travelled to Lake Como and were inspired by the beauty of this northern Italian town. Stephen also happens to be my brother, so this was a really special wedding for me to plan. Both the bride and groom are Italian so paired with their recent travels, we were able to collaborate and plan an event that was truly inspired by Lake Como and their Italian heritage.

Stephen and Alessandra are high school sweethearts who met in Geography class. Stephen also happens to be my brother, so this was a very special wedding for me to plan! Ten years after they started dating Stephen proposed to Alessandra in a romantic setting where he arranged to have photos from their ten years together on display. While planning their wedding they travelled to Lake Como and were inspired by the beauty of this northern Italian town. Both the bride and groom are Italian so paired with their recent travels, we were able to collaborate and plan an event that was truly inspired by Lake Como’s Villa Carlotta and their Italian heritage.

I designed custom dusty blue bar structures to resemble old European architecture. Rachel A. Clingen was the perfect partner in designing this event, her over the top florals (literally taller than everyone in the room!) paired with the interior decor was so magical. Guests were transported to Italy the moment they walked in the door.

Signature cocktails are such a special way to add personalization to any event. Alessandra’s was a tropical margarita perfect for sipping during cocktail hour. Stephen chose a smokey old fashioned which was the perfect after dinner sipper.

I loved the unexpected mix of long and round tables and the combination of blue and yellow in the florals. My favourite accent though? The napkins inspired by their grandparents were customized for Alessandra and Stephen. Every last detail of this wedding was perfect! For more images and detailed list of vendors, see below.
